Requestabet Website Ordered to Withdraw Advertisement
The Requestabet website has been ordered by the Advertising Standards Authority to withdraw an advertisement the betting site has created. The ASA monitors advertisements released by online gambling websites and they found this particular ad to be breaking the guidelines. The ad is in poster form and shows soccer betting connected to buying stocks or investing sums of money. The ASA has stated the ad is showing gambling as a form of increasing savings.
Howard Bunker, a media analyst stated that ads linking gambling and stock shares or buying a home could be seen as tongue-in-cheek. He sees the ad as showing that gambling may not increase wealth and the ad points out that other venues are not safe or prudent as one may think.
It will be interesting to see what happens next in this case. Many online casinos, gambling websites and especially bingo websites have had their ads pulled because the content was deemed inappropriate. It seems a gambling provider must use extreme caution when creating an ad campaign as it is most likely to be found to be breaking one rule or another.
