Reports are coming in every day discussing the current economic status of the United States. Among these reports, many discuss land casinos and how they are being affected by the slow economy. Many casinos have to cut jobs, close a few days a week or cut hours. However, one casino has defied the odds and is thriving despite the current state of the economy.

Red Hawk casino located near Placerville, California has drawn large crowds on a daily basis. Red Hawk opened in mid-December and since then the casino floor has been crowded with patrons. Many casino experts believe that new casinos draw customers in as they believe they have a better chance of winning at a new casino.

Others say customers are drawn to the newness and the latest technology that new casinos have to offer. Whatever the reason, Red Hawk is doing well and could continue to do well for some time.

Other casinos have not fared so well. Across the United States casino revenues are down as gaming dropped $1.45 billion with a $1.2 billion drop in Nevada alone. Some large casinos have seen a double digit drop in revenue.

We will see in the coming months if the Red Hawk casino is affected by the economy after the newness wears off or if it will continue to see high numbers of customers and revenue.
