The Blackhawk Ameristar Resort is the latest casino to open in Colorado and it is boasting itself as the tallest building between Denver and Salt Lake. The new casino opened this past Thursday after a visit from the governor of the state Bill Ritter.

The resort is 100,000 square feet and stands 33 stories tall. The structure has 563 rooms and cost $235 million to build. The new Resort will give hundreds of the unemployed new jobs which are much needed. The casino is two stories and includes over 1,600 slot machines as well as eighteen table games and video-style games.

Gordon Kanofsky the Ameristar Chief Executive Officer commented in a press release on Thursday about the new casino. He stated: “Ameristar remains very enthusiastic about Black Hawk. Our $235 million investment in this expansion will generate more local economic development by attracting guests who would be spending their leisure dollars elsewhere.”
