There have been more resignations this week from Svenska Spel. This is due to the increasing influence of politics within Svenska Spel that has caused two more executives to resign from the company. The state owned gaming operator is preparing to implement their new strategy of discouraging gamblers.

This week Mathias Hedlund who was the head of internet, phone and retail betting resigned along with Annica Axelsson who was the head of their bingo, casino and restraints division. This comes after their CEO Jesper Karrbrink resigned due to fundamental difference of opinion with the state regarding the company's strategy for the future.

According to Hedlund Svenska Spel's new direction has resulted in increased political involvement in the company and that there is now a risk that it may not be able to develop at the same price of the market any longer. "What is happening in Svenska Spel is a change in ambition," said Mr. Hedlund. "I personally would like to develop the company to be competitive, while at the same time maintaining our social responsibility. But with the new direction, I am not the right person for the job."
