IGT Laying Off 200 Employees
The economy is hurting everywhere and the gaming industry in no exception. International Game Technology is a casino gambling machine maker and it was recently announced by IGT that they were laying off two hundred employees working with the company.IGT made to move to restructure the company to work with the current economic status of the country. Employers everywhere are having to lay off workers whether it be permanent or just for a short time until they can sort out the mess that the economic state has made.
When the announcement was made by IGT, investors immediately began to drop out and the stock price for the company fell down over six percent. By closing the stock was down to $11.33 from the previous $12 at the beginning of the announcement day.
Even though many states are now opening up to casino gambling the loss of many steady casinos has hurt the gambling industry. Many casinos have had to cut hours or close for good due to the state of the economy.
