Costner battles in court over casino
Movie star and Hollywood celebrity Kevin Costner undergoing a legal shootout at the South Dakota Supreme Court, over a Deadwood casino he owns. The actor, also active as a director, is asking the court to send the case all the way back to a judge.Costner wants to make friends with his two partners and instead become the sole owner of Midnight Star. To local Sioux Falls residents, this is a well-known eating and gambling establishment. It is also bestowed with costumes from many of Costner's long list of movies.
The Water World hero owns 93.5 percent of the casino. He hired Carla and Francis Caneva who would receive an ownership worth 6.5 percent of the establishment. In return, they would be responsible for its operations. In July 2004, Costner decided to fire the couple and requested to end the partnership.
In order to determine the cost of Costner's acquisition of the remaining 6.5 percent, Costner went to court after the couple refused to settle an agreement on the actual price for their share.
