The Mohegan Sun certainly has something to celebrate as they have recently opened their new casino, the Casino of the Wind. The casino has decided to dedicate the month of October as a celebration of the casinos opening. This past Saturday, several celebrities were on hand to experience the new casino and celebrate its opening.

The young to the old came out for the star studded red carpet event. A celebrity Texas Hold’em poker game took place first on Saturday and was followed by an “Afterglow” party. A new signature cocktail was unveiled by Lindsay Price of Lipstick Jungle called the Windfall in the Leffingwells Martini Lounge. The cocktail is valued at over $6,000 that includes a Tiffany and Co. diamond and pink sapphire ring garnish.

Janet Jackson was supposed to perform at the Wolf Den but canceled so the Band from TV filled in. The Band is made up of musicians that are actors. Band members include: James Denton of Desperate Housewives, Adrian Pasdar, Greg Grunberg, James Kyson Lee of Heroes, Jesse Spencer of House, Bob Guiney of The Bachelor and his wife Rebecca Budig of All My Children.

The new casino has 64,000 square feet of new gaming and dining space as well as 650 new slot machines, 28 table games and a new poker room with 42 poker tables. The Chairman of the Mohegan Tribe, Bruce Bozsum was quoted as saying: "We are so proud to have hosted such an exciting weekend of special events to unveil our brand new casino. Adding the new Casino of the Wind with Poker to our premiere gaming, spa, and golf facilities continues to make Mohegan Sun one of the premiere gaming destinations in the country."
