Just a few months ago the BCLC, otherwise known as the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, opened the first legal online casino in Canada. The online casino is called PlayNow and it was shut down just after it launched due to security breaches.

Players had access to other player’s accounts and some players had funds removed from their accounts. The BCLC was forced to shut the site down to be able to fix the security breaches. The site has now reopened after the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch as well as the Privacy Commissioner allowed them to reopen.

The website spent five weeks offline and each day the site caused the BCLC to lose just over 100,000 a day in revenue. However now the site is back in commission and players can now visit the site to enjoy an online casino, sportsbook, lottery and bingo games.

The CEO of PlayNow, Michael Graydon, commented that they will have to work hard to regain players’ confidence. However they are confident that the new security structure will be authorized by the privacy commissioner and all well be right again at the new online casino.
